Bee update, Photos at last!

bees and branches on a white sheet in front of the hive

Bee update: Safely split the hive. Queen Cell in the process of hatching in the old hive, I could actually see her cutting out of her cell. Original Queen and two spare unhatched queen cells in the Nuc. I should have two hives shortly. Might get a swarm off the wild hive in my oak tree as well (very valuable as they are likely Varroa mite resistant). There are almost no wild hives any more thanks to the Varroa mites.

Carefully extracting the swarm from the lilacs. Nice bees, Nice, bees.

What you are looking at here is a big wad of bees and branches on a white sheet in front of the hive, this was a temporary measure to save the swarm untill I had a nuc.
Most of the swarm back in the original hive.
